(Apologies in advance - the forum software won't let me include links because I haven't made ten posts.)
I have a new (to me) G2 VS980 (Verizon) which came with Lollipop 5.0.2. I tried to root the phone using this method - highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/. After step 12, the phone needed to be rebooted, and it was stuck on the LG screen with green & blue LED cycling.
I was able to get into download mode, and got it back to stock using the KDZ method at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 and VS98024A_11.kdz. That brought the phone to 4.4.2.
I was hoping that using Settings/System Update would get me to 5.0.2, but I receive an error message: Software download was unsuccessful.
I'd like to get the phone to 5.0.2 and root it. Can I use the LG flash tool to install VS98039A.kdz?
After that, what is the most reliable root method?
Thank you.
