Lollipop 5.1 update

Where can I get Lollipop 5.1 for my lg g3? I have Android Version 5.0 on it at present and when I check for software update I get: "You are using the latest software version for current OS." I looked everywhere on the internet for Lollipop 5.1 update, even LG website, but can't find anything.

Re: Lollipop 5.1 update

I had a chance to use an LG G2 for a few days last week ... VERY interesting.

While our newer G3 still sits on 5.0.1 the G2 is running 5.0.2! It is NOT an insignificant change/upgrade either. The 5.0.2 version on the G2 includes actionable notifications on the lockscreen that just work oh so well. You can see the rest of an email or text, reply to it or delete it right there on the lockscreen!!!

Strange that LG's most recent flagship the G3 is sitting on an older, less functional version of Lollipop than the over 2 years old G2 ?

I've heard that perhaps LG is skipping 5.0.2 entirely on our G3s and going right to the 5.1.1 version that the G4 is now receiving but if it is going to be another month or two - why not at least give us 5.0.2... which is a very functional and significant upgrade over 5.0.1 ???

Cmon LG ... help us out here ///

Re: Lollipop 5.1 update

Mine is still on 5.0. Not sure how much difference there is with 5.0.1 but sure there's some but fixes I need.

I have an unlocked d855 (uk). Came with EE but it doesn't appear to be an EE Tweaked rom.

Flash a custom rom. I'm on 5.1.1 the latest r6 LMY48G. Unfortunately, you have to go to the development community to upgrade Android versions on the g3. No other phone except the nexus models have 511. If you want it bad enough, learn how to flash.

Re: Lollipop 5.1 update

Flashing is NOT the answer. If LG can provide 5.0.2 on the G2, why not on the G3???

If their answer is we have 5.1 or 5.1.1 coming for the G3... just tell us that and give us an "approximate" date with 30-60 days!

Too much to ask? I love the G3, my favorite Android phone ever, but LG can (and must) do a better job of supporting their loyal customers ... nuff said!!!

Agree. I don't flash as I use for work and that puts special security permissions (it knows if you have super user etc) on the phone plus don't want to invalidate any warranty.

I had and still have a Sony z1. Which is running later android than my g3. If they sorted the software I would be a happy customer.

Re: Lollipop 5.1 update

The op asked where he can get 5.1 and I gave him his only option. So you guys are just going to wait around and whine. I choose to be proactive and do something about it.

A favorite past time around here. ;) Cyanogenmod works every bit as good as stock android. If I didn't own a Nexus 6 that didn't get fast updates, I'd be flashing ASAP to get the latest, plus some nice features.

Re: Lollipop 5.1 update

It's pretty sad the LG won't keep a one year old flagship device updated. 5.1.1 has many bug fixes and much more stable then 5.0.1. Going to M is a long way away and no updates in the meantime means no more LG phones for me.

Same here. The earliest we would get M would be next spring, if you follow LG's track record so far.
