I live in Wind Home zone. I am trying to switch to my new Moto E, but it won't find Wind, only Wind Away, which says 'Network not available, please try again later' when I try to connect to it.

I'm not quite sure why there are 2 separate APNs for data and MMS, but it seems that's how Wind works, so enter them both--see this discussion: Wind Internet Settings. However, use the APN settings from that official Wind link in my previous post, because the Howard Forums thread is from 2010.

Still nothing. I think the APNs are for data and MMS, but it won't connect in the first place. Are filling in APNs and connecting to the network linked in some way? I'm not sure if this is important, but this is a VZW Moto E, but I unlocked it through using the Network app.

That's probably important. This is the prepaid Moto E, right? Is it this one? Moto E Prepaid | Verizon Wireless If so, the specs say that it's only compatible with CDMA networks. From what I can tell, WIND Mobile uses GSM: WIND Mobile | Devices. So the phone won't be compatible.

EDIT: I just read up on the Network app, that supposedly makes the GSM radio available on the phone. If that's the case, then the question is which GSM network bands the radio actually supports. They would have to match what WIND uses (which would be AWS 1700/1900).

ANOTHER EDIT: For what it's worth, it looks like all 2nd gen Moto E's use the 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz bands for 2G (which would be the voice signal): http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_e_(2nd_gen)-6986.php. AWS 1700/1900 is different from the 1900 MHz band, so it looks like no Moto E would work on WIND.

There's no way to change the bands it works on, right?

I don't think so. The Network app sounds pretty amazing in that it actually activates the GSM radio in the first place, but I think trying to get more band compatibility would require some hardcore hacking.

I've done some research, and WIND operates on 1700/2100. There was nothing for 1700/1900. It's still not compatible, but as a last ditch effort, I went to XDA, and there's a thread where it allows you to change bands the radio can pick up.
