How do I turn off roaming?

Hi
I am new to "Smart phones" but I am familiar with Android Tablets
and a separate Mobile Phone.
I wish to use my Motorola e 2nd generation as I have used a Tablet before.
i.e. To access the internet and email only when connected via Wi Fi.
To use the phone connected via 4G to make an occasional Call and Text.
What settings do I have to make to ensure that, when out and about with no Wi Fi
connection the phone does not download Data when connected to 4G?

Exact location and labels depend on the phone model, but you want to look for mobile data and turn it off.
