Start Up - Google Global is Back, and USB not working

I noticed recently that when you restart your phone, the B/W Moto X animation with spaceship etc. is replaced by the old Google globe thingy. However, now I can't seem to copy and relabel my files on the phone internal drive. When I try to copy something on the phone, it will go into a "nonresponding mode" and I have to close that window. When I create new folder in the phone internal drive and try to relabel it, it does the same thing (nonresponding).

I upgraded to Kik Kat 4.4.2 some time ago and the only thing that's new/changed is the Moto X start up. I'm using Window 8.1 with my phone. Please help. Thanks.
