The folks at XDA have extracted the updated radios from the Verizon Moto X from a recent update. The file has everything necessary to update the system to the latest base band. Follow the instructions in the xda link below.

Users have reported speed and signal increases especially in New York and Chicago. This leads me to believe that this update includes Band 4 LTE.

I saw that was snooping around earlier today. I don't quite think I'm going to take advantage of it, because there is the uncertainty of getting an update even after that. The extra hassle of flashing back to original stock before taking the OTA which, may update to that radio anyway, doesn't quite justify the little bit of extra speed, IMHO

fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.

This method doesn't require root of any sort. The OTA will just override the radio theoretically. But totally understand the concern.

Speed has slightly increased for me.

Is this radio different from the one on the soak test?

Its a higher version. Includes band 4 LTE, and overall improvements.
