back lite works, screen doesn't help

Huge problem here, I rooted my OG droid about 2 weeks ago and everything worked fine however this moring when I woke up my screen was slow at responding to my comands I quickly did a battery pull. Afterwards I turn the cell back on and to a huge surprise the back lite works however the screen won't come on. The phone still works I can hear the notifactions from messgaes I am getting, I just can't read them. Any clues on how to fix this???? Would it be due to rooting the cell or is it the screen just burned up???
