Moto Turbo, can't delete password pattern?

I entered a password pattern hoping I could dump the goofy swipe lock in favor of the password pattern. Now I find out I can't get rid of the lock page or the password pattern. So I am swiping the lock page and then doing the password pattern. PITA! Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! That sequence of swiping up first, and then having to enter your unlock pattern/PIN, is a Lollipop thing. Some manufacturers allow you to modify it so that you don't have to swipe first, but not all devices have this ability.

Are you saying you can't seem to get rid of the pattern lock screen now? Go to Settings>Screen Lock​ and pick a different method.

When I go to lock screen it gives me the choice of a pin, pattern or password. The option for none appears in light grey but is not functional. I want to remove all types of screen lock.
