Droid1 Auto-focus issue

All the pictures that I take from over 12 inches away from something are blurry. I push the camera button in to focus, it makes a sound and nothing happens visually. I have played around with the focus settings, but nothing seems to help. The phone will take pretty good close-up pictures, but I take very few that way.

I am having the same issue. Will work intermittently but mostly seems to be stuck in macro mode. I have tried restoring the defaults, cleaning the lens, clearing the database, and using other camera apps. Nothing seems to have any effect. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. If I rooted my phone and used another ROM, would that maybe help?
