Why can't I view my songs/photo in Nexus 5x but can see in file explorer?

I can't view my songs/photo in Nexus 5x but can see in file explorer

Hi all. Day before yesterday I updated my phone (now it's android 6.0.1). Before that, this problem I'm about to share wasn't there.
Whenever I add songs via usb (laptop to phone), I can see them in ES file explorer in sd card--> music but can't see it in Music player. In ES file explorer there are categories like images, music, movies, documents, app etc. So here, 6 music files are being shown (which are notification ringtones) but when I go to ES file explorer->storage>emulated>0>music or device>sd card> music, then i can see 71 songs. None of these songs can be seen in music player (default android one).
Same thing is happening with a collage maker i had for several months: photo grid. I can see the collage in sd card>dcim or sd card> photogrid but when i go to the default android photo viewer, I can't see the collage there.

P.S. I had downloaded 'Music Player' to solve the problem, but there as well i can't see the songs. Please help!

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the directory where the music files are doesn't contain a file called ".nomedia." This goes for any parent directories as well.
