Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
Just flashed the radio update with no problems. Xionia Recovery FTW. I have decided to stick with xionia since IHO and BobZhome's recovery doesn't work with updating PRL from my experience. Seems to be the champ of them all IMO (don't hurt me)
Thanks a bunch LeslieAnn for giving me something to do on my Monday night after work.
AND OMG is it just me or did my phone become SHINIER right after I updated the radio..?
SHINY!

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
I had a similar problem with my camera button today when my OV took a good fall. Noticed later when trying to reach recovery menu with hardware buttons that the camera button was stuck halfway down. I got curious and broke out my electronics tools a couple screws and some prying at the metal casting later, the button freed itself up. After putting the battery cover back on the button got stuck again. So, I broke out the dremel and shaved some of the plastic off. The button works fine again. Phone is not as shiny anymore though. As always this is an at your own risk procedure.
Chillin' wit' my peeps

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
I just had an interesting little episode that I thought might be worth sharing. I decided to flash "Amphetamines" onto my phone. It flashed ok, but upon reboot into OS I had no signal whatsoever. The radio was completely unresponsive. Wouldn't even toggle into Airplane mode. Had to do a restore to get it working again. So, unless you like having to restore for no good reason, might wanna avoid Amphetamines after flashing the radio update.

Strange.
Could have been a fluke, hard to say.
I can't imagine that of the 100+ people who downloaded this, that you are the only one running that.
At least it's nothing permanent or difficult to fix.

I'm really new to the Optimus V tweaking, but I tried amphetamines--twice. Running bobzhome on my newer phone, I lost bluetooth connectivity after amph. Restored and all was good. Flashed amph again and BT seemed ok but lost phone connectivity (radio, I assume). Restored and all is good. I haven't attempted radio upgrade although with the CWM 4.xxx version I think it may work. Will wait for more reports.
Thanks to everyone, esp LeslieAnn for helping with the Optimus V.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
Go to this page for the guide
Go to for the zv8 or other stock cab files
One thing I forgot to mention is that you will sometimes have to go into recovery to erase data. To do so just power off. Then hold the home and volume down keys then press the power button you'll go into stock recovery. hit data factory reset.Last edited by asadullah; 03-20-2012 at 10:40 AM.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
A simple reboot would have fix the 3g! Happen to me this morning, and I did not flash amphetamines.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
If this is in reply to my issue, a "simple reboot" did nothing to bring back the radio. Several reboots did nothing.
LeslieAnn: Perhaps the order in which they're flashed makes some difference. Amphetamines before radio is ok, but Amph after radio = wonky? Who knows. Seemed worth mentioning. - 03-20-2012, 01:23 PM #167
Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
According to JerryScript in the Amph thread: "Some of this is already built into IHO, I believe in the system.prop file. I'll look into it later, thanks for posting!"
If there's only "some of" the scripts already built-in, it stands to reason that "some" of it may not be and that there's a possibility that it may provide some added benefits.Thanked by: - 03-20-2012, 01:29 PM #168

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
I want to share my experience with the new radio. At work, my signal was constantly at -120dbm. After the radio update, my phone is at -98dbm and I can finally receive calls! So, it definitely helped me. Thanks Leslieann.

Re: [Patch] Virgin Mobile VM9 Radio Update - Restored!
If you flashed the radio and you are not sending/receiving texts that service is down right now, call VM and you hear a message about how they are working on it.
