Set Firefox as default browser

How do you set Firefox as default browser on android phone ive tried every other answer throughout the web and nothing

Welcome to Android Central! Which browser is currently the default? Go to the App Manager, select that browser, and tap Clear Defaults. Then the next time you tap a link that will open the browser, it will ask you which browser you want to use to complete the task. Select Firefox, then tap Always (instead of Only This Time).

You could also install an app named Default App Manager. It lets you assign and clear default apps.

I have tried all the above when I press always it says go to settings apps clear defaults and reset the default browser whats up with that

When you select Always, there is usually an informational message that reminds you how to clear defaults--it's not telling you to do it right now. There should be a checkbox there that says something like "Don't remind me again."
