I received the Stagefright update today OTA. I am on Verizon. It took about 15 minutes and all went well.

How can you tell it's the Stagefright update? Someone mentioned in another thread here called "Verizon update now" that it said in the notification that the update was for Stagefright, but I'm not seeing it on my phone. This is what mine says:

I never do updates as soon as they become available because I want to see how things pan out as others install them. I have no idea if the update pictured above is the Stagefright fix or something else.

Well, somebody just telling me it is doesn't really prove it.

Since I couldn't seem to get a definitive answer with proof in this thread or other threads here about whether this update was for Stagefright or not, I have proof it is in fact for Stagefright and DOES fix it on phones on VZW running Lollipop 5.0.1. Screenshots from my Note 4 before and after.

What type of answer were you looking for? Besides, why would I, or anyone else, lie to you about this? I was just trying to help you out because I know that lots of phones are being updated right now because of Stagefright. ✌

These forums are intended to HELP those who may have questions. So if you ask a question and one or more people post the same answer, why would you doubt it? If you don't want a question answered, just don't ask it! The people who take the time to try helping you have other things to do with their time. Some of the postings in this thread border on the ridiculous. These forums have moderators, ambassadors, editors, etc., who monitor them constantly. If they see something that is out of line or not truthful, they correct it. So, if you don't like the answers you receive, please don't waste our time with your questions. IJS

So, you believe everything a random stranger tells you on the internet? WOW, good luck with that strategy in life.

Seriously more than one person gave you the same answer. I can totally understand your position if they gave you different answers but they didn't. Lol

Good grief. ...

It'd be one thing if the answers stated specifically how it was known to be for the specific security issue. Srvctec may have rubbed you folks the wrong way but it wasn't that far out of line....As he stated in post 2 the info wasn't displayed on his update notification. ..

I didn't mean to stir everybody up. Like srvctec, I use Lookout and downloaded their Stagefright detector. I guess I should have mentioned that. I generally download a new update straight away. Probably should wait to see if there are issues but I've never had issues with updates on my tablets or phones. Just lucky 🍀

You can accept the update then look in /cache/update.zip if you have root access. That file will have all over it stuff you are looking for.
