Setting wallpaper, why does the black status bar show up on the top?

When I try to set a different wallpaper then the stock ones the black status bar is always across the top.
How can I use a different wallpaper and avoid this problem?

Because...the black status bar is not part of the main screen area. Unless an app lets you overlay the status bar ontop of a picture this wont change.. honestly ive never noticed it.

I don't understand how the stock wallpapers work fine but anything else has tha black status bar.
Does anyone have any ideas?

For nova launcher go to the settings go down to the option( look and feel )then scroll down to the bottom where it says transparent notification bar and select it. And your problem is solved.
