Question about themes

I've never really liked Android outside of stock devices, so I've always stuck with Google's own Nexus line which I love. However, I finally made the choice to dive into buying the Note 8.0 because I liked the idea of having an active stylus at a sub $400 price point. So far, I'm quite impressed and the device functions better than I thought it would with all the customizing Samsung does. I actually find many of Samsung's features to be nice (SmartStay, for instance). That said, the overall appearance of TouchWiz I find rather ugly. I'm wondering if you can change launchers on a device like this without losing the built in features of the device?

Many of us use 3rd party launchers. I use Nova Launcher Prime. As far as I know you can still use all the other Touch Wiz features.
