Why does it matter if your battery is charged at 100% during upgrade or reset? Does it affect battery life later or is it just a standard thing to do? I know my battery life after the ICS update has gone way down and then I did a reset afterwards but I have never read anywhere why 100% matters.

My guess is it's more of a CYA thing. A lot of posts suggest you have more than 40 or 50% charge when updating, especially if it's OTA vs wired.

It would suck to have your phone die in the middle of said update.

Think about it, what choice does the manufacturer have in the matter? If they say less than 100% and it fails.......(think like a lawyer) ohh it took longer than it should have, sorry your phone is dead but we don't cover updates unless you have a full charge. If something really goes wrong, it could drain the battery.

This is an insurance policy for them (though it holds little value IMHO).

Just sayin.

I was thinking along those lines as well but I wanted to ask anyway. I was actually hoping it was a battery life thing but oh well.
