Yes, if it's an Android phone go into Settings, Security

And in there you can set a PIN.

There are probably apps to remotely track your phone but it isn't a good idea to chase down a criminal yourself.

Android Device Manager, find it in your Google Dashboard online.
Register your device, and you can track it, and even remote wipe it.
It's a great built in Google service.

And there are apps like Lookout: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...re/apps/details?id=com.lookout&token=YKaM50p2 that will take a picture of whoever tries to unlock your phone and you can view it on the Lookout website.

The Google solution is free and built-in, so as a previous poster mentioned, you should do that (along with a PIN or password) at a minimum.
