So last night I wanted to test how much battery my phone eats up on LTE, so I turned off my WiFi and went to sleep. 6 hours later I woke up to my battery going from 98%-23% overnight. There has to be some sort of mistake here, somebody please help :(.

It may have something to do with the cell signal. You appear to have a weak connection. A cell phone will always try to hang on to any signal it can. As it tries so hard to do so, that is energy being used.

What he said!

OP - You can try using GSam Battery Monitor Pro: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm.pro (there's also a free version) to better quantify your cellular signal (look at the Radio Details).

If this is only happening at home then perhaps you'd benefit from a Network Extender, which you can purchase through your carrier.

Finally, you said that you turned Wi-Fi off, but that's not what the History shows - there's a solid blue bar for that whole time period.

Yes I know I'm actually really curious about that, my WiFi was off the whole night, and in the morning when I saw the stats tell me WiFi was I went into my WiFi settings, turned it on for 15 mins, then turned it off for 30 mins. And there was a solid line the entire time saying that WiFi was never turned off... Not sure what's happening here. Will turn off qifi again tonight and test, will post results here

Okay so this time at least the battery didn't drain as much. But it still says my WiFi was on, how is that possible? I am 100% positive that I turned it off!!

Other than the strangeness with Wi-Fi, the rest of the History view looks normal. The phone was only awake a minimal amount, but the cellular signal still looks marginal. You could try putting the phone into Airplane mode overnight just to see what battery usage looks like.

Edit: I don't know what's up with your Wi-Fi - I turned mine off a bit ago and the History view reflects that.

For the Wi-Fi issue:
- time to reboot into Recovery mode and clear the system cache.
- if that doesn't help, time for a Factory Reset

For the battery drain:
- try putting the phone into Airplane mode before you go to sleep, then see what the battery drain is like in the morning. If it's better, then your cellular signal is probably the cause of the issue.

Okay so I tried putting my phone in flight mode and everything was normal. My WiFi actually showed that it was off and my battery only drained 1% . now I'm just concerned about why when I turn off WiFi only it shows thaty WiFi has been on in the battery stats?

I've had the exact same issue for a couple weeks. It started for me right after an update to Samsung Push Services app. I disabled the app, but it didn't help. My battery went from burning about 10% an hour to about 20% per hour. When I turn wifi off, the battery stats indicate it is still on.

Same thing happened to my wife's S3...and she ended up getting an LG phone.

A couple days ago, mine suddenly improved, but it's still burning about 15% an hour.

Samsung has had a horrible track record with updates for this phone. It will probably be my last Samsung phone.
