Hello guys.

I was wondering if someone could assist me please. Today I went out and purchased the Galaxy s4 mini and I went to check for firmware upgrade via the phone and it says I am running the latest updates.

I have also tried checking through the program kies and I think that was the same also. I am new to the Galaxy series due to the fact I was on the Xperia z phone.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Galaxy s4 mini 4.3 firmware upgrade question

Mine is the same. I bought it a few weeks ago. Firmware was up to date when i walked out of the store with it. I think the counter guy did the update as part of the service.

I keep Wi-Fi, Auto Update and Wi-Fi Only options on all the time. This way the updates are done automatically, typically when i am at home but also near any free Wi-Fi hot spot. We have free Wi-Fi throughout our downtown area in addition to the usual coffee shops etc.

I keep the Mobile Data setting off, except for when i specifically want it on, temporarily. This way i do not use my limited mobile data unknowingly.

Yea I actually do the same method as you mate, but after doing another search through google I saw that many other people are talking about that they haven't even got the update as well even thou it has already rolled out in November.

My friend who is also a Galaxy s4 user has the same problems.

Re: Galaxy s4 mini 4.3 firmware upgrade question

Well I just got of the phone with Samsung support and they explained about the bugs it 1st got rolled with and they halted it until they have fixed what was needed to.
I asked the lady about when it may be resolved and she couldn't give me a date of when it will available, but she said keep checking for the update.

Got to say thou that the lady I spoke to was very pleasant. :)

Checking in, I also have an s4 mini on 4.2.2 and was hoping for the 4.3 and Galaxy Gear support update this past week but nothing yet; any information on when the Sprint s4 mini will get 4.3 and Gear Support?

Thank you,
Shane

Re: Galaxy s4 mini 4.3 firmware upgrade question

Currently the 4.2.2 is the latest version for the S4 Mini, but i have a friend that has an unlock version of the phone (i think its a I9195) and she has the update notification but is reluctant to update. For the mean time my I9190 is stuck in 4.2.2, but I think the most important question should be: Is there a killer feature to actually need 4.3, if you don't plan to buy the Gear?

so guys, today i got a prompt to upgrade my firmware - thought AT LAST 4.3! sadly, it was some 69mb stuff, where i don't actually see any difference despite that i "cannot downgrade after this update to due to security reasons" and Gear compatibility and bloody Google Drive app. So, as of yet, i'm still with 4.2.2
Regarding the "killer feature" - Knox hands down, because (if i'm not mistaken), you can split your celly in two parts, one for business (therefore pass protected where you'd might be able to stash porn), another for daily use.

I've been reading about Knox, looks like a good feature, but still for my needs it's not a killer feature. Don't get me wrong g here I always want the last version. That is why I'm considering the nexus as my next phone.

I migrated too from Xperia to Samsung, don`t worry, it looks weird during the first week, than you get used to it:)
If in your settings you will find that your gadget runs 4.2.2, you don`t need to do nothing more, since this is the latest version of Android for this model

Hello guys, quite some time since I have written on this forum.

My carrier never released the kit kat update, but I found an update in a website named sammobile.com with a rusian firmware and I was albe to install 4.4.2 on my Galaxy S4 Mini, so far the experiance has been good, my only complain at this moment is batter life, but mainly because y have activated the Ok Google hotword after the upgrade.

My thoughts so far are:
  1. Better memory management.
  2. Got rid of the ugle carrier icons
  3. Better keyboard presicion, stoped using Swiftkey for the moment.
  4. Gallery app is more stable. Had issues with the gallery app crashing before the update.
  5. Samsung bloatware is still there... and can't be unisntalled.
  6. Battery life is acceptable even with the OK Google hotword activated.

Re: Galaxy s4 mini 4.3 firmware upgrade question

i have done quite alot of research, and it appears there aren't any plans to ship 4.3 to o2 s4 mini, as 4.3 is supposed to give galaxy gear support. instead we got that support in 4.2.2, so your galaxy gear should already work. i'm not sure 4.3 will give many advantages over the 4.2.2 we have now, but i may be wrong.

KitKat 4.4.2 has been available for a few months now. Why the interest in 4.3?
