Way to scroll quickly in stock gallery app?

In my HTC M8 gallery app, I could grab the scroll bar and drag it to the bottom of the gallery in a fraction of a second. In the S5 gallery app, it looks like you have to scroll page by painful page. This becomes a problem when you have thousands of pictures in the gallery. Is there a way to do this faster?

Group your pictures into albums (folders in storage), so you see one picture per album.

Or find an app with a scroll thumb (the thing you grab on the scroll bar).

you can pinch the screen to make the icons smaller and fit more which in turns means less scrolling...might help

If you sort the gallery by "time" rather than "album" you can fast scroll by sliding the scroll bar.
