How to remove a security download on the Samsung Gallaxy 6 that we don't want to install.

A message appeared on my husband's phone to make a security update or lose the security on the phone. I started the download which took forever. We were visiting relatives at the time and did not keep a check on it. When we got home we found it had used up most of our data which created a data usage warning. We want to delete the download without installing, but there is no place to do this. How do we get rid of the download?

Once the download completes, the file is typically stored in a low-level directory (typically /cache - NOT your phone cache... just a directory) that is not accessible unless you have root access. OEMs want you to take their OTAs, so they don't make it easy.
