What generates a "unknown sender" on a Galaxy S6 call log

My wife's Galaxy S6 call log shows received messages from an "unknown sender". Her log shows receiving several messages per day from an "unknown sender". I am wondering if she is hiding something or is their an app generating this?

First of all, ask her directly, and after the answer then you can begin wondering what will be your next step, sometimes it may includes a Marriage counselor, or an Attorney.

But going back to your question, if the caller use *67, it will hide the number from the Caller ID, as easy as that.

Maybe she has saved her lovers number under the name "Unknown Sender" so it looks like the messages are from an unknown sender! God Damn that's genius!
