Why isn't my Aux Cord working with my dads Samsung Galaxy S6?

Aux Cord w/ Samsung Galaxy S6

My aux cord perfectly works fine with my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy S6, but for my dad's phone is also a Samsung Galaxy S6 the aux cord doesn't work I really need help. The car is a Cadillac 2008 CTS

Try a pair of earbuds in your dads phone to confirm the earphone jack is working.

Is there any chance his phone is connected to the car (or something else) via bluetooth already?

I had this problem yesterday. I tried to plug my treadmills 3.5 cord into the phone so i could hear my phone call through the treadmill speakers. Would not work.

But my headphones work just fine. I gave up, but would love to get it figured out.
