Want phone to stop asking me to comment or providing unasked-for information

I'll pull out my phone because it is ringing or I got a text ding and am confronted with a message asking me to take a picture of where I am and post it, or to read an ad for something near me. It's often o.k. with me for the phone to know my location, but do I have to put up with this if Location is turned on, or can this "feature" be disabled?

I have this illusion that this is my phone. Of course my illusion is challenged by apps that I have to keep even though I don't want them, such as, in my case, Samsung pay, but I keep trying.

Go to settings in Google Maps. Then go to Notifications > Your contributions. In there you can turn off those notifications that are bothering you. You also might want to check in the People's & places right below that and the other sections and turn off anything you do not want to be notified about.

If you do not want any of those notifications at all you can go into Settings > Notifications and turn off Maps.
