Has anyone purchased it outright @299 w/out a service plan? I have my Note 3 and Note 4 with me all the time, even when running so no need for the SIM at this point. On the att.COM site you are unable to order it w/out selecting a service plan - thus the Q.

That's what a manager at AT&T told me, but there are at least 2 posters here were able to buy it w/o a plan. They went to a retail store though, not online.

Yep - figured I'd try it out myself. Called one store - answer was NO.... went to another and walked out with $299 + Tax less in my account. Now plan is to figure out if this is any better than the Gear 2 it will replace. I was told the return window was 14 days and there was not a restocking fee.

I was told there would be a 10% restocking fee.

Yep - my box is naked... actually my box was already opened (ie - seal broken) - i specifically asked the rep and he said no return fee. In any event if I do in fact return I'll hold him/ATT to that.

I bought mine from AT&T and am now using it with my Verizon Note 4.
Make sure you read the back of the receipt.

Yep - that's why if I happen to return I'll go back to the person/mgr that told me point blank - NO - restocking fee.

When I bought mine, I was told no restock fee because it is count as accessories. I guess, it is a hugely YMMV thing in store.

yep - same thing my guy said.. it's an accessory. In any event to the other persons question on how did I do that... Just try a few ATT stores - tell them you are buying it as a gift (ie - no plan) was easy at the 2nd store.
