I went through a few until I found Calendar Widget: Month + Agenda. I wanted a calendar widget that showed a month, and seamlessly integrated with Google. Here's what it looks like, as I have it customized.

My wife and I have had N6's for about two weeks now. Neither of us have seen any of the issues you describe, not in the least. So, it's definitely possibly you have a defective unit.
He's talking more about the resolution increase. For instance, if you switch monitors on your desktop from a 19" 1440x900 monitor to a 23" 1680x1050, you get more than just increased viewing size. The higher resolution will allow you to see more content on the screen at a time.
Now, I'm not...
White 32gb... Would've ordered a 64, if they weren't so rare, just because they cost isn't much different. Really though, 32gb is more than enough for me. I'll worry about needing more when I have to delete something I don't want to.
That is something else I didn't consider. Maybe my N6 reached 100% long before the 6.5 hour mark, but it happened to drop to 99% when I awoke.
At this point... Pretty much all there is to take away from this thread is that I did a terrible job with this experiment. :-\
So, apparently, my 3 year old Qi Charger isn't as speedy as other/newer models. I didn't consider that when I posted this thread. YMMV seems to apply here.
That being said... Wireless charging isn't about the speed. It's about the convenience. When I get home, and I set my phone on the charging...
I let my Nexus 6 go down below 10% yesterday before I put it on my LG-700 Qi Charger... 6.5 hours later it was at 99%.
Just in case anyone was curious how long it takes to charge wirelessly.
