News Gemini becomes a more capable Google Assistant replacement with latest update

My main issue is its slower than Assistant - ask it what the time is in London and you have to wait as the Gemini screen works out the answer. Ask Assistant and it responds almost instantly.

News NVIDIA's Shield TV Pro is still the best streaming device in 2024

I'm finding a lot of the streaming apps aren't playing as nicely these days with the shield Pro. Paramount+ is a prime example of an app that constantly crashes or forces me to reboot the pro just about anytime I want to stream with that app. This happens on both my Shield Pro and my standard...

News NVIDIA's Shield TV Pro is still the best streaming device in 2024

I hate that the newer Pro hardware ditched the IR port so I can't use my Harmony with it any longer (original Pro finally died forcing a replacement). When I eventually replace my Pioneer Kuro Elite TV for a modern CEC one it will solve the problem, but until then I'm back to using two remotes.

Can't find where to change Twitter notification sound

I found it - Settings > Apps > Notifications > App Notifications > Twitter and then you have to sent the sound for every individual notification action (DM, Emergency, News, Followers, etc.). Yeah, that's easier ... ??????

Can't find where to change Twitter notification sound

So I have a Blackberry KeyONE on Android 7.1.1 and a Pixel 2 XL on Android 8.1.0. Both are running the same version of the Twitter app: 7.47.0. The KeyONE shows the "Notification Styles" section at the bottom of the Push Notifications page (options are Vibrate, Ringtone, and Notification...

HDR Screen on the Pixel 2 XL?

Good point - perhaps Razer gave Netflix an incentive?

HDR Screen on the Pixel 2 XL?

Pretty sure it's application dependent, so Netflix would have to update their Android player for HDR on the Pixel 2. If enough people ask, and Google sells enough phones, maybe?

HDR Screen on the Pixel 2 XL?

It works, just watched a couple of HDR you tube demo reel videos and you can see it go into HDR mode when you flip to landscape / full screen mode. I confirmed the video mode it was in as well. Pretty spectacular looking ??????

    Constantly paring

I have this nonsense going on with my Moto 360 Gen 2 paired to a Motorola Droid Turbo 2. For me it seems to be whenever the watch and phone get disconnected (i.e. I walk away from my desk at the office and leave my phone sitting there); when I come back in range instead of automatically...

Do you think this will sell out like the Pixel XL?

That's interesting, I would have thought the blue one would have sold out first since that's the "limited edition" color.

Do you think this will sell out like the Pixel XL?

Thanks! I wasn't able to get their via normal play store navigation but your link worked great :) Blue Sport is on the way.

I have an LG Watch Sport — ask me about it!

Yeah I saw that with the accounts, which is very cool for people with multiple accounts. I keep thinking someday this will work like my bluetooth headphones that can be paired to two phones at once. Thanks for replying.

I have an LG Watch Sport — ask me about it!

This is similar to my Qualcomm Toc watch, the band is non-removable because there are touch sensors in the band (actually worked quite well!) and they were very ridged where they connected to the phone body. I have narrow wrists but I didn't have any issue wearing the Toc. However you have to...

I have an LG Watch Sport — ask me about it!

Great review Andrew, thanks. Given the changed nature of Android 2.0 (less of a "slave" to the phone), is there any chance you can use the LG Watch Sport with two different Android phones (i.e. a "work" phone and a "personal" phone) without having to factory reset the watch like with AW 1.0...

    Android Central Site Performance

Hi Steph, I tried it in incognito and had the same results. Thanks.

    Android Central Site Performance

I'm not sure what's going on but the AC site for me has been getting progressively worse from a performance standpoint and now it's become almost unusable for the way I like to browse sites like this. I'm a Windows 10/Chrome browser (currently build 54.0.2840.99 m) user (but I see similar...

Not so "seamless" update today (but close)

Agreed, just would have been nice if instead of getting the message there was an update available to instead have just picked up the phone and seen "an update has been installed, reboot to continue". But your right, now that I know it all happens in the background once I click download its...

Not so "seamless" update today (but close)

Yeah I get what you're all saying, I guess I just didn't think there would be that "approval" process to initiate it, and its funny once I saw the screen with the progress bar I didn't realize I could jump away to other stuff at first (nothing on the screen made that clear), it wasn't until a...

Not so "seamless" update today (but close)

So my unlocked Pixel XL received the November 5 security update this morning and I would call the process "semi-seamless". There was a notification that an update was ready to download, I had to click that, watch the 60MB file download (quick), then it started the install, which took an hour and...

M10 question: Hangouts vs Messenger vs HTC Messaging app

Yes, it took forever but Hangouts now handles MMS and group messaging quite nicely. Very handy for those of us Google Voice users.
