Question Cases for newer Pixel phones

Thanks! Those cases look awesome, and especially cool to know they are a small business in Ukraine!

Question Cases for newer Pixel phones

I've had the speck cases (with the grippy silicon/rubber ridges, like this: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71m+s2+SUuL._AC_SX679_.jpg) for my last two phones and simply just love them, but alas they don't make them for the newer Pixel devices (e.g. 6a or 7a). What Pixel 6a and 7a cases...

Google app has over 8 GB of user data, what?!!? How to delete?

When I click on the "Google" app info it gives an option to "manage space" but it only lists a small portion of the user data that can be managed. I don't have her phone in front of me, but it says 8 GB of user data, but clicking on Manage Space only shows a few hundred MB. I'll check later and...

Google app has over 8 GB of user data, what?!!? How to delete?

My wife's Nexus 5X has been having storage issues for a while. I discover that her Google App (like the main search app) says it has over 8 GB of user data stored. When I click to manage space it only gives me the option of deleting search data and a few other things which totals less than a few...

Efficient way to block and unblock a contact regularly

I have an aging parent who periodically calls me at a high rate, say 10 times in a minute. I still need to maintain contact with them but would like to have a way to quickly toggle blocking their calls and texts. Sometimes I'm at work and I don't want to have my phone on silent, but need to stop...

[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon Ok, I've been mulling this over for awhile now. I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus with unlimited data. I'd like to upgrade it to the Nexus 6 or maybe another Samsung Galaxy something-or-other. I just want a newer phone with better...

    [GUIDE][Ubuntu] Compiling Android from Source

Yes, you have to read about git and repo. For example, I have played alot with the DeskClock App and built it separately many times. So what you do is modify the code in that project (the desk clock itself is a git repository... i.e. if you locate it's containing folder, you'll see a ".git"...

[App] (JB) Night Clock + Multi-colors

I'm looking for a few people to test this out on different devices (phones & tablets, nexus & non-nexus) and let me know if anything acts funny or doesn't look right. I'm new to app development, and this is my first (mostly) original app. I'd love feedback on the UI and layout/style, bug...

    [GUIDE][Ubuntu] Compiling Android from Source

What is your linux OS? Are you using it in a virtual machine? First, you might want to try manually uninstalling (through package manager gui or via command line) all of the packages listed there that you were trying to install there. Then, try the install command again. I'm no expert, but...

    Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

If you have never flashed anything before, you should start by reading an "all things root" guide, however im not familiar with the Samsung Galaxy 2, so Idon't know where to point you to. First you'll need to be familiar with the process of backing up and restoring nandroids using a custom...

    [GUIDE][Ubuntu] Compiling Android from Source

It is expected for the camera and gps to not work when building AOSP from source (see my post above). I haven't built 4.2.2, so maybe it is different, but when building 4.2.1, there were 3 missing binary files: sirfgps.conf, ducati-m3.bin, and gps.omap4.so. I would compare your AOSP rom to a...

    4.2.2

I'm on JBSourcery 4.5.6 and it is 4.2.2 based. They are up to version 5.0 now. It's pretty nice.

    [GUIDE][Ubuntu] Compiling Android from Source

depending on what AOSP branches you have synced with, you might not see toro as available, but it is actually there, you just can't select it from the lunch menu. Just do: "lunch full_toro-userdebug" and it should allow you to select toro that way.

    Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

I think you have to remove the stock camera app. FC's... you could try wiping dalvik, cache, or doing a factory reset. Once you have flashed this camera to your system folder, it will still be there after a factory reset. Could try clearing all cache and data associated with the camera first...

Resets, wipes, so many, what do they do?

ah... then I was mistaken, I thought wiping data from recovery means you won't have an OS to boot into, as I thought it was "formatting /system" in the sense of removing all files from it. I would almost swear that the first time I did a factory reset from the stock settings menu, it wiped my...

    Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

If you flash the zip, then there is no need to do anything with any apk's, as they are all in the zip. The reason I included the apk, is for some reason I found that it wasn't zipaligned. I'm not really an expert at this, so take my advice with a grain of salt. If I were you, I would go back and...

Resets, wipes, so many, what do they do?

So I guess my next questions would be: what is user data? It doesn't include the sdcard or does it? Does it just mean user data associated with user installed and system apps, but not any data that those apps has written to the sdcard? So then what does the wipe data / factory reset option in...

    Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

If you flash the zip, then you don't need to do anything, as that will move the apks and libs to the proper place and set their permissions. ALso, it will overwrite your stock camera, so be sure to backup it up and/or do a nandroid. I definitely recommend backing up with a nandroid before...

    Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

Factory reset from the stock android OS settings menu does not seem to delete system apps. At least it doesn't for me. I've done at least 2 factory resets from there and both times it kept all my system apps, nova launcher, root/superuser, and now the 4.2 camera. Although, maybe some expert...

Resets, wipes, so many, what do they do?

So there are many different options for resets and wipes, mostly I'm familiar with installing ROMs through clockworkmod recovery, where you wipe data and cache. And when installing certain mods or troubleshooting the phone, sometimes wiping cache and/or dalvik is called for. However, there is...
