How do I stop the 4.3 update notifications on my Verizon Galaxy S3?

Re: How do I stop the 4.3 update notifications on my S3? Not that I am aware of. Hopefully someone here knows a way outside of root.

How do I stop the 4.3 update notifications on my Verizon Galaxy S3?

Re: How do I stop the 4.3 update notifications on my S3? Per GSDer, I went in and renamed the SDM.apk to SDM.bak. No more notification nonsense. :)

old Cyanogenmod TV lock animation file?

I'm running Clean Rom as well. From what I've read, the CRT off animation doesn't play well with the last few verisons of the rom.

can't call in or out on my sgs3

Sure thing jimmydee62. Just shoot me a PM if you need some assistance. After you flash back to stock 4.0.4 and you still don't see the IMEI, applying OTA updates prob isn't going to resolve the issue for you. You'll need to write the IMEI manually. After restoring stock 4.0.4, you might be...

can't call in or out on my sgs3

Had pretty much same prob due to some rom issues. The install nuked my IMEI and ERI values. Somehow locked the SIM in the process. Great! Flashed all the way back to stock 4.0.4....no dice. Didn't want to surrender a new device for a refurb so I did some digging. Managed to rewrite the...

    Happy Upgrade Day!

I'm sticking with my DX untill it A) self destructs B) it takes an unintential leap of faith C) gets lost. Either way, I have a backup DX in the event of the above mentioned 3 happens. I am kinda wanting a new device, but 4G isn't a necessity for me so the new devices don't really impress me...

    Grandfathered unlimited data plans?

I'm in the same promo as WebDev above. When I signed up for it, they told me as long as I maintain at least one line of service, my data plan won't change. Once they rolled out 4G in my area, I called to confirm my data plan wouldn't be affected. No change in data plan. Upgraded a device on...

BEWARE of downloading the "Rooted Gingerbread"

NO issues here either. SBF'd back to 2.2, installed the two parts and bingo. Easy as pie.

Wasn't gingerbread supposed to start being pushed ota last night?

The updates are released in waves. We all won't get it at once. Be patient. :)

How do you turn off an X?

I had the same issue when I was running the first GB leak. Battery pulls would stop it for a lil while but the self reboot issue kept coming back. As the others have stated, with the latest update, the problem seems to be resolved.

Questions from a guy coming from a Palm

Ahh, the Pre! I had one of those a while back. Definately a fun phone. As for an app similiar to Preware, no, we don't have anything like that (that I'm aware of). Patches are crazy easy to install on the X though. Generally it's a .ZIP format file that you simply drop on your SD card and...

28 Hour Battery (stock) - is it GB or my direct charging?

That's about the norm for my device. I don't beat it up too bad during the day though.

I fully agree with Johnly. Don't worry about learning root first. Learn how to SBF first and foremost! It saves alot of blood sweat and tears in the end. :)

    Root and Bloatware?

You can't uninstall them. The apk's will have to be renamed. Most of us use Root Explorer. Others use SuperManager to rename the files. Word to the wise, DO NOT remove anything pertaining to Yahoo or Backup services!

    Issues With Rooted Gingerbread

Now, if I have a very productive day at work (means not goofing off with the phone except for a few texts/calls), I'll have about 70% remaining before bedtime. That's right at 17hrs uptime. :) Battery life in Froyo was good, but not quite this good.
