I have a cheap Archos 80 G9 tablet. All the G9 tablets have a usb port for a 3G stick to be plugged in. The cool thing is you can plug in a usb device and actually use that as storage and transfer files. Whenever I do that the microSD card is unusable or undetected.

Hopefully you find a fix. Kies detects my S2 fine but it won't detect my S3. The computer will detect both my phones. These driver issues are the worse I have had on any product.
thanks. i did try this - this is what i addressed in post 19 above. but, again, thank you.

Same deal with me we have 2 phones one had gingerbread (mine) the other one had ics (Wife). Just like you, I installed jellybean on both phones, the gingerbread phone did fine without issues, but the other was having the same USB Storage problem! But wife was able to fix it by formatting the USB Storage (an option offered by the phone itself thru the notification bar) after that everything was fine with her phone!

Don't know why yours doesn't show the micro SD Card Icon with the exclamation point inside it! We she selected that icon the next pop up window allowed her to format the USB Storage.

I wished her phone had that option. I guess I'll keep trying, not ready to do a factory reset.

the odds are good this is the last night i will spend fiddling with it. not having autocorrect, not having predictive text, not having a camera, all suck.

i will be bringing to the sprint store tomorrow. if they can't replace it, and S2s are in short supply (as i have heard they are), i wonder what they will replace my phone with. :o/

i was told by Sprint customer retention that an s3 would be considered an upgrade. i'm really not sure what phones they consider comparable to the S2. but i am curious to know.

The S3 is a whole generation newer and designed better so it would be a upgrade. Pricing is also part of it.

My phone was doing this to and I was trying a bunch of stuff and if u go to settings and go to storage almost all the way at the bottom it will say mount SD card I clicked that and it worked for me. So its worth the shot.

The usb storage will not mount. SD card works fine.

When she formatted her USB did she loose all of her pictures because I have the same exact issue but I have tons of pictures on it that I don't want to loose.

In ICS I can go to Settings / Storage / and under USB Storage there is a selection to "Format USB Storage" with a warning " Erases all data on device's USB storage, such as music and photos" so I would think that all data goes bye-bye.

My phone lists 3 things for storage

    Internal
    Phone
    Sd

Internal just breaks down as apps and free
Phone must be the internal sd (I get the option of primary storage phone or sd)

It treats that as the sd card until bought the card.

The internal sd card is stupid. It seems to just duplicate data. My gallery apps show the same folders in two or three places

Just give me 2 gigs internal rather than Inge internal one fake sd, and a real sd. Better yet give me 8 gigs internal

Then an sd card (some apps use widgets and can't be moved some need data all the time.

Is that what the usb storage is?

When I go through My apps it has data broken down into:

    App
    Data
    Usb storage app
    Sd card
    Cache

I'm guessing cache and data is where the app is located... (phone or sd card)

Not sure what usb storage is

Not sure why phone has apps when it 'was' the sd card. Internal only lists apps as using data. I am guessing its also app data.

I wish my phone (phone sd) were purged and added to internal. Then not used as sd. Then all pics & media truly saved to the real sd.

I deleted several apps that had data in the USB storage app. No matter where the actual app was, the internal storage .... Listed apps only got more free space.
