is it possible to navigate through the samsung vibrants recovery when your volume buttons do not work?

I don't know for sure, but wouldn't imagine it to be possible. I know there is the touch version of the recovery, but am unsure whether it is supported on our device.

Are you sure the buttons don't work themselves, and it isn't just a software fault?

well the phone has never been rooted before, it even has its original firmware so i dont think it could be a software problem but i opened the phone up thinking maybe it was some issue of the button not meeting the phone but what i found was there are actual button once you remove the faceplate and i tried pushing them and it still didn't work. lets just say its been misused...for a long time.

Its ok though, thanks for your response, i think we're just going to send it to some place to get it repaired.
