I have a Samsung S10e (unlocked from Tmobile) with Android 12 (upgraded from 11).
I have migrated to it from a J7 prime with Android 8, via SmartSwitch.

The app icon badges (AIB) never showed in my S10e, while they did in my source J7 prime.

How can I solve this?

https://forums.androidcentral.com/android-apps/1038031-why-icon-badge-not-showing.html mentions a case where only for WhatsApp AIBs do not show.

https://innov8tiv.com/why-are-the-app-badges-not-showing-numbers/ mentions a few steps to try in this case, which I closely followed (adapted from Oreo), as described now:

1. Settings -> Notifications -> Advanced settings -> App icon badges
Show Numbers

2. Settings -> Apps -> Three dots at the top right corner -> Special access -> Notification access -> Samsung DeX home -> Enable

3. Settings -> Apps -> X -> Storage -> Clear cache
X stands for several apps on which I applied the same procedure, X = ADW Launcher, ADWNotifier2, One UI Home, Settings, Settings (dual apps).
Restart

4. Restart is Safe mode
No AIBs showed.
Note: In safe mode, the home screen I had in my old phone was presented, so somehow the phone remembers that.

What I have in Settings>General management>Reset is
>Reset all settings
>Reset network settings
>Reset accessibility settings

Which is the one you are referring to?

Plus, it looks like I would be losing quite a few other settings with this Reset... is there any way to tell (approximately) which would they be?

Thanks!
