Can anyone explain why my phone drains from just sleeping?!

It seems there is some app or a process which is keeping your phone active and your phone is not entering deep sleep. Try these if you are rooted download wakelock detector and see which app is draining the battery. or go to mobile network and manually choose your network & if u only use 2g then change the network mode to 2g only. If all else fail factory reset (wipe cache ). Hope this helps.

im not rooted but i will try the options you listed. if that fails ill just charge it over night

I'm inclined to agree with this. In your screenshot the signal seems to be weak.
