I have scoured hundreds of pages, looking for a compatible cifs.ko file for the LG Optimus S running ZVH / 2.6.32.9 to no avail.

Every version I try yeilds an unsatisfying:
insmod /mnt/sdcard/cifs/v1/cifs.ko
insmod: init_module '/mnt/sdcard/cifs/v1/cifs.ko' failed (Exec format error)

so then of course when I attempt to mount the volume:
mount -t cifs //192.168.1.101/ /mnt/sdcard/media
mount: No such device

It is my understanding that this is due to a kernel compatability issue?

** Shout out to Drew ** Thanks for all the work you do!
Is there a proper compiled version of cifs.ko that can be used with ZVH/Opti-Rom?

I have very little experience compiling modules from source code.. so if one is handily availabe it would be much appreciated.

btw. I am trying to mount at the filesystem level so that my media streamers can find the path to the samba shares.. some players just don't see network shares.

Thanks,
Ranger

No, it needs to be compiled with a new version of GingerKernel which I will be releasing some time today. I'll include CIFS in the update.

Will this be deployed as a new GingerbreadKernel when completed?

[KERNEL][GB] GingerKernel v09 or similar?

Just trying to figure out what to look for.

Cheers~
