Deleting only one side of the text conversation

I have an Lg G7 phone and it deletes only the incoming messages once i hit the limit. The default is 200 messages, so it should, in theory, delete all of the oldest first. Instead it deletes what i received, but leaves what i sent. If i don't manually delete what i sent, it gets to the point where i can't receive more from that person. The same happened with the Lg g6 which makes me wonder if this is a setting issue or a software issue.

It's more a decision by the developer.

If your current messaging app is not working as you would like, try a different app.
Lots of us like "textra" for SMS/MMS.
