Earlier question follow up about old Android Tablet and getting old files off it?

I had the earlier question today about getting old files off tablet that were saved using the old Browser. I appreciate the reply I got but it recommends copy/text but that is the problem, how can I do that as when I try to highlight to copy nothing gets highlighted at all and I even tried connecting a mouse and same thing? Any ideas? I thought maybe a screen print and then copy to someplace else more manageable but I am not if that will work and I don't know how to screen print. Thanks in advance for any advice.
