Galaxy Tab S6 Display won't turn off

I have a samsung tab s6 and the display will not turn off when the power button is selected. It goes to the lock screen and the display stays on.
However, it will turn off if the usb port is attached to a power source.
Maybe its a coincidence, but a "Usb connector connected/disconnected" notification started to occur about the same time as the display stopped turning off. And nothing is being connected or disconnected to the usb port.

I tried both methods and the tablet would not boot into safe mode.

Probably going have to factory reset

Do you have a password or PIN on your tablet? If so, you'll need to enter it after tapping the turn off icon on the screen.

Are you able to power off the tablet at all?
