I will say I have dropped it on its face from pretty high down and it survived without scratches or cracks.

I can't remember for sure but there are video's on YouTube showing the new gorilla glass, it looks impressive. It's still glass, but seems to be a notable improvement over gorilla glass 3

It all depends on the angle and how luck you get. I dropped mine on the corner and it got three lines in it and then the screen slowly became unusable as a literal blackness covered it from top to bottom.

I dropped a full Nalgene bottle on my (by accident) from less then a foot. It landed just right (wrong) to create this result.

From watching some of the videos promoting how tough gorilla glass is, not so sure anymore..

According to the spec sheet, fracture toughness is 0.7 MPa-m^0.5. "0.7 Million Pascals square root meters" . (That's pretty good for glass)

Not sure that I want to trade it in for a plastic screen. I've never had any problems with glass screens.
