How can I connect a NOTE 5 to a Pioneer App Radio. Model is SPH-DA120

I have tried with the USB2 output, no luck. Tried a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter (Miracast), no luck. Contacted Samsung..spoke with 3 different people and all 3 said it was not possible. I find it hard to believe NOTE 5 can not be connected. I know the micro USB no longer has MHL, but there has to be a way...

Looks like Bluetooth is an option for Android. Maybe that will work? For USB, the Note 5 would need to be in MTP mode rather than Installer Mode. Installer Mode comes up by default.

I have SPH-DA120 and S7 Edge and I can connect it over USB however only apps compatible with MirrorLink can be used
for example Spotify, Sygic runs smoothly

I am wondering the same.
My s7 will not connect it Gets stuck in the mirror link screen and nothing happens on either usb port
I will be trying a miracast recommended by pioneer I hope it works?I don't want to go back to iPhone.
