How do I connect a flash drive to Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 (what OTG cable brand)?

I bought a USB to microUSB cable to connect Flash drives and (micro)SD cards to my Galaxy Tab S2. However, no flash drives or SD cards (using a reader) shows up on my Tab S2. I did make sure Flash drive is FAT32 formatted and I've read that rooting is not necessary in order to read and use external devices on the Tab S2. So it looks easy but I don't know why I don't seem to be able to use this OTG cable I bought. Is there a specific brand that anyone could recommend? Thanks a lot in advance!!
