I opened my email in my Galaxy S4, but I don't see any saved files...?

i wen to accounts and backupp and put my gmail but nothing apparently has been saved

Check Google drive that where Google files be back up , if Samsung check it's cloud back up

Welcome to Android Central! First, is this an old Galaxy S4 phone, or a new Galaxy Tab S4?

Second, what exactly are you looking for? Are you trying to restore your device with a previous backup?

well im not sure i meant to back up my cell phone and I just entered the account in the ACCOUNTS area i am not sure what it backs up i dont really need the info I just want to learn in case

If you're talking about Google's backup feature, see this help page: https://support.google.com/android/answer/2819582?hl=en. The backup can consist of the app's settings and possibly your data, but the latter depends on if the developer decided to take advantage of that feature. Not all apps will back up the actual user data, which is why you might only see a few Kb of backed up data in the Google Backup section.
