Welcome to Android Central! Chances are that the people calling you were getting spam calls by a robocaller that was spoofing numbers. It's pretty common now -- spam callers can spoof a number with the same area code and prefix as your number, which makes you more likely to answer it since you think it might be a neighbor calling. If you call the number back, it's not the spam caller you reach -- it's someone else's phone, who was completely unaware this was happening. I've had that experience before. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it. I generally ignore calls on my phone that have the same prefix as my number -- if the caller wants to leave a voicemail, they can, and I can call them back if they're legit.
