Got an old Nextbook ARES 8 Tablet which SOMEHOW REVIVED ITSELF (I have NO CLUE how it happened) from the dead (When I say this, I mean IT WOULD NOT EVEN BOOT UP !!)
Yet after SEVERAL MONTHS (Like AT LEAST a year ??), I decided to turn it on yesterday (Thinking the battery had drained itself completely down whereas it'd need charging before I could turn it on) & confirm what I already knew about it
Only thing is THIS TIME it booted up normally (I know GO FIGURE
)
Anyway, EVERYTHING seems to work fine EXCEPT WiFi
Before I ask what can be done to fix it, I need to go into detail as to what it will & won't do & go into my network setup (This is for informational purposes)
I recently got a DUAL BAND modem from Comcast/Xfinity (Which enabled me to ditch my dying dual band router) HOWEVER the Nextbook will only detect the 2.4 Ghz. side whereas ALL my other devices (THIS tablet I'm using (NVIDIA Shield K1), my phone, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick & even my Xbox (If it to be connected via WiFi) all detect BOTH the 2.4 & 5 Ghz. sides (And EVEN THEN the Nextbook BARELY gets any throughput on the 2.4 Ghz.)
In fact, the Nextbook seems to get a better connection from MY PHONE VIA ITS HOTSPOT than it does my Comcast modem (But EVEN THAT is on the wane now as the 4G data consumption rises)
So my question boils down to this.....
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX IT (Or CAN it be fixed) ??
