Power button - how do i stop screen from immediately locking when pressed?

If I am done with using the phone for a moment and want to turn off the screento conserve power, on my old HTC it simply turned off the screen, but did not lock the screen until my preset time had elapsed. On the Note 9 it immediately locks the screen, so if I go back in I immediately have to enter my password. Can this setting be changed? Cannot find any reference to it.

It should all be in Display.

And you can install Proximity Service so putting the phone down face down will blank the screen and stop hr lock timer.
