Received the error message on my Motorola Droid Mini

At first I could hit "OK" but the message would immediately pop right back up! But Now that I've let it sit for a awhile the error message is froze on my screen. I cannot even turn off my phone. Plus my phone is feeling a little heated. In fact the Power Off Menu is froze behind the error message! I really want to avoid a factory reset since I recently experienced the passing of my boyfriend from cancer and most of our memories are on my phone (photos, texts, vmails, etc) How do I fix this? :'(

Welcome to Android Central! My condolences. What is the exact error message you're seeing?

You should be able to force a shutdown by pressing and holding Power for about 10-15 seconds. Then wait a few seconds, and then power back on again.
