Matias Duarte put the horizonal view into webOS before in 2009 before iPhone had it. Hopefully we'll get webOS Stacks a 2011 adaptation of the horizonal interface. While fiddly, it's optional for those bothered to use it.
Personally the Oreo vertical recent Apps list made so much sense, you could see many activities at once making it quicker to change. Granted horizonal looks tidier and cleaner. Fingers crossed they bring more functionality back in the next release.
