Samsung Galaxy 5 -No text msg sounds

I just got a samsung galaxy 5 Friday. Everything has been fine up until tonight. I am not getting any sound notifications when a text message comes in. I have deleted the app "Zedge" where I downloaded songs just in case. All was fine until tonight. I had an iPhone for many years so I am kind of helpless and still learning the new operating system. HELP!

Reboot and see if the problem persists.

Open Messaging, tap Menu, then Settings, and look for the notification options--make sure they're turned on, and that the tone is something besides "None" or "Silent."
