I woke up to my unresponsive s8+ phone. Black screen and power button didn't work. I performed a soft reset (power + volume down button), phone rebooted, but never to my home screen, just the Samsung title and provider screens. After multiple reboot attempts, I receive a green screen with the message: ""Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support." I've been checking this forum for assistance but unable to figure out how to get the firmware I need for my phone using Odin (which I have installed on my PC - Win 10). I visited sammobile but US is not listed under Country/Carrier. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Hello and thank you.

I have been following that specific thread, but not sure where to download the firmware. The sammobile site does not have US listed. I think I can take it from there once I know which firmware to download.

Yes, they definitely do have US firmware. But they restrict your download speed to be SUPER slow unless you're a paying member.

Here's a link to a site whose downloads are always fast and free. Click the magenta "Download SamFW Server" button for best results

https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G955U/VZW/G955USQU8DUJ1

And remember to use HOME CSC (not the other one) if you don't want to perform a factory reset

Thank you. I successfully loaded the correct BL, AP, CP and HOME CSC files into Odin, ran it, and log indicated "All threads completed (succeed 1 / failed 0)". Phone rebooted, I received the blue screen "Installing system update", then the screen went black. I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I did the soft reset and the blue screen appeared again, droid displayed the swirling circle, it was moving, then stopped, and screen went black.

Any additional steps I can take?

I downloaded frija but was unable to run the XML file on my PC. Odin worked fine. I have a Galaxy s8+ Edge.
You can extract odin/frija with something like 7zip
Where you get the firmware from?

Check different ports and make sure known good cable

Thank you and MNMobileGuy greatly for your assistance. I was hoping for a better outcome. Love this phone. But I don't have AT&T as shown in the screenshot below. I thought I was required to d/l the file my specific carrier?

If it won't boot up, you'll need to do a factory reset from that menu

And why not? It's not going to hurt anything. It's a pain in the butt to have to set your phone up again. So it's worth it, to avoid the factory reset. And then only do it as a last resort, if it's absolutely required
Because your not trying save data as you would doing a update , the phone is bricked needs everything erased from beginning .
