Question Steering wheel controls with bluetooth/aux carplay?

I'm looking to buy a portable carplay unit for my 2015 Mazda 3 hatch.

One thing I really value is the steering wheel controls, if I connect the AA unit to my cars speakers using aux or the headunits bluetooth connection mode, can I still use the steering wheel to skip, go back, and change the volume of the music?

Alternatively, can I connect to AA using a wire and connect to my cars bluetooth to retain steering wheel controls whilst having AA (Waze) active?

Or will I be forced to use a little remote control or the touchscreen?

Portable probably won't let u use steering wheel control but aftermarket head unit should as lot of them have that feature running Android lower version
