Type to Search message

DX with Froyo. When I click on "search contacts" and the keyboard comes up, there is a "type to search" message on top of the keyboard for a few seconds. Its very annoying, as you cannot type anything until that message times out. It serves no purpose other than slowing you down.

Any way I can remove this message? I am rooted if that helps.

Download Gesture Search from Market. It's very cool ... just draw letters on the screen and the search begins using whatever letters you have written.

There are setting options within the app to customize it to the speed and type of searches you want. Have been using it just about since I got my X last July with NO problems. Have it in a dock launcher (with Launcher Pro Plus) on my home screen.
